NOURISH!

Why Nourish?

For millennia, birthing parents were supported by a village of midwives and kinfolks, that wrapped new parents in nurturing support and filled their kitchens with delicious and nourishing meals. With industrialization, these support systems were lost. For Black mamas, the loss was compounded by more than 400 years of enslavement and racism. This caused Black women and birthing people to die at 3-4 times the rate of white women due to pregnancy complications.

NOURISH is one step forward in forging a supportive postpartum culture in Black communities that is based on justice and care.

What is Nourish?

The NOURISH program delivers a week’s worth of meals to new Black Mamas their first six weeks postpartum. Our team has crafted a nutrient-filled, yet crave-worthy menu from a network of BIPOC owned community restaurants in partnership with Black led Job Training Delivery partner, Pikkup

Every $1000 raised will support one new mother for 6 weeks postpartum.
